Yard shoot results in beautiful equine portrait photographs

30/12/13

I felt the need to share this lovely photo from a great yard shoot this Autumn. Whilst I usually photograph horses very much in action during Showjumping and Eventing competitions from local pony clubs to national championships, it was great to again take some time to capture some relaxed portraits of the beloved 'Benji' and his young owner/rider at their home.

If you've a horse or pony, and would like some beautiful equine portrait photography, then get in touch and book a session for the Spring! ...more

RAF kick back for Xmas

08/12/13

We had a fantastic evening last night helping RAF Northolt celebrate at their Christmas Party. From the moment we walked through the door to set up, we could tell a lot of effort had been made to turn the venue into a Dickensian Winter Wonderland! With several rooms set aside for dancing, drinking, eating, and meeting Santa, each given a full makeover with a 'frozen pond' dancefloor the highlight.
We joined in the theme, with the team dressed as young ragamuffins (not 'blokes from Yorkshire' as one reveller had decided), and shooting portraits of guests against a lovely winter scene. We brought plenty of props too, which inevitably meant most of the event photography had guests sporting false moustaches, big lips and Santa hats!
A great evening - thanks to everyone who attended. We look forward to visiting RAF Northolt again, perhaps in the Summer. ...more

Event guests can now appear 'in the movies'

05/12/13

We were delighted to introduce our new backdrop at the Image Hollywood Ball this Winter. A huge film reel, with the chance for guests to literally appear in the movies! With many thanks to Aylesbury artists Tony Ashton and Jan Ruddock for making my rubbish sketches an 8 foot reality!

If you're organising a Hollywood / Movie themed charity event, party, or awards ceremony and need an event photographer then give us a call and we'll bring a bit of movie magic to your event... ...more

Shop Small. Shop Local. Support small businesses.

04/12/13

The 7th December is a date for your diary if you want to support your local economy. This year marks the inaugural "Small Business Saturday", helping to raise the visibility of local businesses, from high street heroes to local service providers. With far more revenue generated in local businesses staying within the local economy, it makes sense so shop local, and perhaps give the 'big boys' a miss this week. You never know, you might find you prefer using your local providers more!

Already a great supporter of using local businesses (our business printers are local, as are our accountants and suppliers of much of our framing consumables), we're challenging you to make a difference yourselves...

Use your local bakers instead of the Supermarket. Buy your Xmas gifts from your high street, not the internet. And why not visit us for your family portraits instead of using the big companies that pop up in every shopping centre once a year, then disappear again!

Give us a call, or why not pop online where we're selling our gift vouchers at a 10% discount from now until 9th December! ...more

The secret garden!

25/09/13

Last weekend we were asked to photographs the lovely Pearce family for an outdoor family photoshoot. They suggested a little place in Bledlow called Lyde Gardens, which I'd never heard of, so, praying for the rain to hold off for the morning, we headed to the venue, trusty sat-nav on duty. My brief reconnaissance of the location (using Google of course), didn't prepare me for this hidden treasure of rustic stone steps and wooden walkways meandering through a lovely sunken gardens full of beautiful plants and foliage. A great backdrop for some lovely portraits, although it was pretty dark down there!
It reminded me of how many hidden beauty spots we have in England, and how we often don't go investigating our local areas nearly enough to find them! I'll certainly be returning to Lyde Gardens again! ...more

Teams line up for their portraits

14/05/13

It's not just Schools that ask us to photograph groups of kids for them, Sporting teams and theatre groups are also keen for photos to commemorate their teams efforts, and document another year in their history. The players' parents love them too!

This is just one of the team photos taken this weekend for Wendover Junior Football Club. They've several teams over 6 agegroups, and a photo of each team will soon be gracing the walls of their new refurbished Clubhouse, alongside treasured team photos from decades gone by! Not only that, we also captured individual portraits of every team member too, so that each player's parents could have a treasured memory of their son (or daughter) and their time at the Club.

If you run a club, whether it's a sports club, theatre troupe, scout group or any other team, why not ask us to capture them together for the benefit of your club and your members? It's perfect as an end-of-season event too! Get in touch to discuss your options today! ...more

Now that's what I call a personal and bespoke approach...

08/05/13

Want to get an insight into why coming to us for your personal portrait photography experience beats a 'free shoot' at your local high street studio? Our bespoke approach means we can work with you to understand what you love, and why you want your portrait photo.

This tough-looking lad came to us with his family. We had a chat about his love of Rugby, and so I suggested he bring his kit and a ball along. After a few family shots with his sister (and her beloved pet dog), we decamped to the garden and dirtied him up a bit, ready for this moodily lit portrait. A quick chat about how the family wanted to display their photos, and what he wanted for himself, and a few poses later, Mum now has a lovely framed triple print of her son doing what he loves best winging it's way to her!

Then, on we moved to her daughter and her dog for some more bespoke and personalised artwork for the family home. Mum called me later to thank me for a fun shoot... I can't wait to see their reaction when they see the final product! ...more

Preparing for new arrivals

08/05/13

It's a busy old time, your last few weeks before your new baby arrives. There's the nursery to paint, doors to secure, nappies to buy, maternity and paternity leave to arrange... there's almost a danger of not taking any time out to enjoy this most precious moment in your relationship!

This lovely couple, and many others, realised that taking a few hours to visit us can give them a little rest, as well as giving them some amazing memories of the time when bump prepares to become baby. It'll whizz by all too quickly, and a beautiful pregnancy bump photography shoot is the perfect excuse to capture this amazing time for years to come. This couple now have a beautiful piece of art on their bedroom wall, and a lovely album of photographs due once their baby reaches 6 months old, celebrating their love for one another, and the exciting and ever-changing few months of their new baby's life.

So... get the diary out, circle a date, get in touch and help us capture this special time for you and your family. ...more

What's with all these ducks?

01/05/13

Residents of Buckinghamshire might be forgiven for thinking they've gone quackers recently as a rash of ducks have been popping up all over the county. We were asked to capture some photos of a strange figure who has been seen depositing these ducks in tourist places around Bucks.

We tracked down the mystery bird sneaking through the catacombs of Wycombe's Hell Fire Caves, before following the duck to Adam's Park - the home of Wycombe Wanderers - where a couple of players (Junior Morias and Kortney Hause) took some time out to take the duck on for a kick-about before we moved on for a relaxing rest at Marlow bridge.

What's it all about? You'll have to visit this website to find out... ...more

What's in a name?

01/05/13

Our friends have just had their first child, and I meet new parents on a regular basis at our newborn baby photography shoots. I've been amazed by how varied the names chosen were - from common to plain crazy! We've listed the top 10 boys' and girls' names (thanks to www.babycentre.co.uk) to see whether we've gone celeb name crazy, getting more traditional, or if the up-coming Royal preganancy is influencing baby names... what do you think? ...more

Tring Rugby Festival a great success

29/04/13

Rugby Tournament day... and although we awoke to glorious sunshine on Sunday morning, it wasn't long before the clouds rolled in and the temperature dropped. By the time we were in full flow of Tring Rugby Club's Mini festival, most people were wrapped up warm again and wondering whether Spring was going to stay for more than a day at all this year!
It didn't dampen the spirits of the 70-odd teams who were playing across the tournament that day though... nor our team of photographers who were there to capture the action as it happened! A smoothly run day, and all teams had a great event with some fantastic feedback on our sports event photography from parent and competitors playing across the 13 pitches.
With more sport events looming in the diary for us, we just hope that the sun comes out to play too! ...more

Whoa there! Incoming horses...

18/04/13

It can be pretty exhilarating, being in the centre of the action sometimes...
I'm lucky enough to be involved in photographing national equestrian events each year, including the exhausting two weeks that comprise the Blue Chip Winter Showjumping Championships and the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships in Gloucestershire. With hundreds of competitors attending who purchase equestrian photographs from many events throughout the year, it's nice occasionally to try something new.
With a jump situated near the edge of the arena we went for a few ultra wide action shots taken with a 17mm lens to give a sense of action and location. Here's one that worked particularly well... I've not posted the one that has horse and rider almost on top of me! ...more
